Singapore

Singapore is like the United States in Southeast Asia. Although, the area of the country is only 268 square miles, the country has been known as one of the most developing countries in Asia. However, the population in this country is continuously increasing. In 2011, it’s shown that the population is 5,183,700 of whom 3,527,000 are citizens. Singapore has virtually no natural resources since it’s a small island. Therefore, raw materials must be imported from outside the country. Nowadays, many people want to go to Singapore to live and work because of the benefits from the government. It’s shown that 40% of Singapore residents are foreigners and this number is still increasing. There are a lot of interesting things in Singapore that I have experienced I’ve visited there many times. Most people live in apartments since there’s not a lot of space for houses.  It’s also a heavenly place for shopping. You can find everything in Singapore. Singapore is a multicultural country just like United States. People speak Chinese, Malay, Tamil, and of course English, so don’t worry about the communication when visiting the country. Singapore is the most clean and fresh country in Asia that I’ve ever visited.  Food in Singapore is great since you can enjoy a lot of different cultures.  They have subways, buses, train and of course their transportation is the best. People usually take subway to work or school in the rush hours since it’s the fastest way to go. I was very impressed by the Merlion, mascot of Singapore. There are a lot of places to visit like: Jurong Bird Park, Underwater world, Singapore zoo, Casino. I love travelling and Singapore is the 1st choice I recommend for you to visit in Asian. Would you like to check out Singapore?

  1. Hi Tom,

What's your favorite country to vacation in? Is it Singapore?

I work in the travel industry and I get free and reduced cruises and I never really use them! I should travel more because the world is so vast. Singapore is one of the places I'd like to visit. I bet nothing is cheap over there!

  2. Tom, I'm coming. As to why you think there is such a large percentage of residents in Singapore that are not originally from that country. What do you think? Chantha, Retrieves cruises… Why if you're not using him send these things my way–LOL no, you really should travel if you have an opportunity, even if you're just traveling in the United States. It's a wonderful experience to take with you for life.

  3. Chantha,
Wow what do you do in the travel industry? I also like to do cruises too. There are so many cruises line out there that take to lots of beautiful place like Alaska, Caribbean, Mexico and Europe. I did the Alaska cruise and the Western Caribbean; they are so beautiful and fun but also ate lots of Buffet on the cruises. Yes, Singapore is my favorite place because of multicultural of South East Asia there. It is also a great stop because from there, I can fly to Vietnam or Bangkok or Kuala Lumpure in like an hour. I can also take a ferry to like Indonesia in like 45 minutes and I can enjoy beautiful white sand beach. You should check it out when you have a chance.

  4. Dr. McCarthy,
Singapore is a small island with very limited resourced. They have been an development country in south east Asia. They are in need of labor workers. Most of those residents are from neighbor’s country residing in Singapore for work and school. When I was there last year, there is a huge mall about 12 floors just for Philippine workers to send money home to their family while work in Singapore. It is a country of opportunity like America is that why I think Singapore is like a small united states in South East Asia. They also speak English as the primary language there which make it very easy to communicate and travel around the country.
